Some people are just so lucky. Karen and her husband will be heading to the South Pacific for a three week adventure in Australia and New Zealand. She has promised to write a travelogue as she goes. So stay tuned.
We now have a significant group of WiseWomen who have WisePack™ in Australia. They have told us that they can't find anything like them in their country. By the way they call a backpack a "rucksack" and typically it is a rugged trail bag. In fact, while Karen was at a resort in New Zealand, the manager, who had been admiring the bag, ordered one on right then.
I thought one of the reasons so many people travel to Australia and New Zealand is that they speak English. Well a little digging resulted in some important translations that may prove helpful to know.
Here are a few: Sweater = Jumper Flip Flops = Thongs Candy = Lollies Bar = Pub French fries = Chips Diaper = Nappy Crib = Cot Pacifier = Dummy Fanny Pack= Bum Bag Entrée = Appetizer Appetizer = Entrée
If you want seem less like a tourist you might use these slang words. Australian = Aussie New Zealander = Kiwi Beer = Cold One, Stubby, Pot Really! = Fairdinkum Friend = Mate Man = Bloke, Fella It'll be OK = She'll be right Great = You Beaut, You Beauty!
