Women's handbags continue to be the hottest fashion accessory. It seems that women are constantly looking for the "right" purse to accent an outfit, to compliment their business image, or to service all the day-to-day activities of a busy life. That usually means each women has a wide variety of purses and handbags in their closets.
This fall several accessory designers have included assorted styles of backpacks in their line, including Coach, Tumi, Hobo, Perlina, and Prada. It appears that women have communicated to these designers that huge tote style bags are hard on shoulders and necks, while itsy bitsy little bags are cute but not useful for carrying essential items. In a book titled "How to tell a Woman by Her Handbag," author Kathy Eisman, connects a woman's handbag to her personality. She finds that those who carry a backpack purse typically are casual and practical. She describes them as warm and young at heart. And they can be fashionable.
Because a backpack purse is smaller than the more rugged outdoor backpacks (rucksacks), women who use them don't feel like they are carrying their old college bag.
